Slightly Stoopid
After dinner at my room mates house in the suburbs of Philadelphia, I was introduced to his best friend, and his little sisters best friend. Five minutes later, my room mate, me, his little sister, his best friend, and his little sisters best friend all piled into the car, and we drove into the city to the Electric Factory to see a band called Slightly Stoopid. The awkwardness only lasted minutes, until I realized how well I got along with my new friends, so I was already excited for the concert, and now I was excited to hang out these new people.
When we arrived at the concert, and had parked and were looking for a bathroom, I ran into two of my own friends from high school who I had no idea were going to be there, and they showed me where the bathroom was. This concert was looking like it was going to be great and it was. The only regret I have about that night was that the band did not play my favorite song of theirs, but that's okay because they played all of my other favorites.
One of the greatest moments in the concert was when they played their song "Sensimilla." In spanish, sensimilla is a slang word for marijuana and needless to say, the room erupted in smoke. The guitarist of the band even started smoking while he was playing the song. It is hard to describe the style of the band, because they play some reggae songs, some hip hop songs, some "punk/trash" music, and some alternative music, but up until they played this song, the audience had been wired and had been pushing and shoving, and frankly it was quite uncomfortable. But after they announced they were going to be playing "sensemilla", the crowd lost all aggression, and certain smells were very noticeable. The entire audience was in a standing room, and it was very packed so anyone who was claustrophobic might not have enjoyed the performance as much as I did. People took advantage of the ability to smoke indoors, and even though I did not smoke a thing the entire night, my mouth still tasted like an ash tray. The music was great though.
The next most memorable moment of the concert was when the band covered a song by the heavy metal group Pantera. This cover, first of all, was AWESOME. Second of all, the song is heavy metal, and to the right ears, such as every single pair of ears in the concert, it makes you want to jump around in a senseless manner, and in doing this, a "mosh pit" broke out. A "mosh pit" is when a circle forms in the crowd and everyone jumps into the middle and kind of just dance fights. What was really cool was how no one said anything about a "mosh pit", the circle formed itself. It was an unspoken action that everyone just moved out of a circle and the area was just open. The courtesy shown by these people that were just flailing their limbs and hitting people in the face was amazing as well. When two people collide in the middle, they push, and shove and if one falls then everyone helps them up. Some people could get hurt, with black eyes, concussions,
