SME Training Fair 2007
The 2nd series of the SME Training Fair 2007 was held in Dewan Millenium, Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang on the 3rd July 2007. The event was organized by PSMB in collaboration with the Japan-Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTI), the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Penang (FMM), the Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC), the Penang Chinese Chambers of Commerce (PCCCM), the Kedah Chinese Chambers of Commerce (KCCCM), the Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Pulau Pinang (DPMM Penang) and the Malaysia Indian Chambers of Commerce (MICCM).
The objective of this Training Fair was to provide a platform for SME employers specifically in the Northern Region of Malaysia to identify and source training programmes relevant to their needs. The SME Training Fair 2007 was also aimed to create awareness amongst SME employers on the importance of training and skills upgrading.
The SME Training Fair 2007 was officiated by the Honorable Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn. A total of 247 participants attended this event comprising of SME employers, representatives from employers’ associations, chambers of commerce and government agencies. There were 49 exhibitors from all over Malaysia participated in this event to set-up their booths to exhibit and showcase their product and services. The one-day event was a good platform for SMEs in the Northern Region and the training providers to interact, network and develop business ventures in training.
Apart from the fair itself, the participants were also able to gain more knowledge and insights on the human capital development issues through the presentations from distinguished speakers. The speakers were Dr Wilson Tay from MIM, En. Mohd Izham b. Abdullah from SMIDEC and Dr Azizah Johor from Asian Composites Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.
