Smoking

Some public places still allow cigarette smoking, however I do not agree that it should be allowed. Smoking is harmful to the person doing it and all of the people that surround them. There are many reasons why I feel people should not smoke in public places. One reason is because smoking is harmful to non-smokers, it makes everyone who does not smoke smell like nasty cigarette smoke unwillingly and it is very harmful for the environment.
It has been researched and placed on the news that cigarette smoking can cause many types of cancer for the people that smoke and those that have to inhale secondhand smoke. There are people that have allergy problems, asthma, and other health conditions that make it hard to be around certain things like smoking. Non-smokers I feel should have a choice whether they want to be around smoking or not. It is not fair for non-smokers to receive health problems like lung cancer from secondhand smoke, when they have no other choice but to be around it. I am sure other people who go out with their families to nice restaurants do not want to be around cigarette smoking while trying to eat. Even though restaurants have smoking areas it still lingers in the air. People who bring their newborn infant babies with them as well; they do not need to be around smoke at such a young age. People that smoke need to be more considerate to non-smokers and smoke cigarettes at places such as their homes or wait until being in their cars. So they are not harming anyone but themselves. To me nothing is worst than working down the street behind or next to someone who is smoking and it comes straight in your face. Then by the time you get home all you can smell is nasty smoke all over your clothes. People that do not smoke should not have to worry about it being blown in their face or smelling like it by the time they get to their destination.
