Social Media Today
As an individual, if I could only remain on one social media site aside from Facebook, I would choose to stay on Snapchat.
Three Reasons I have selected this platform:
1) I have selected this platform because of the ability to fill multiple needs within one app. Thanks to Snapchat I am able to get a glimpse of what my friends are doing, like on Instagram, as well as send direct messages like on Facebook.
2) The second reason is the ability to develop into something new. With Snapchat, we have seen really revolutionary advancements, just in the last year, which gives you a sense of excitement, knowing they will not become stagnant, but rather be adding new features to the app and building off their success.
3) Finally, the user interface. With snapchat, I really enjoy the way in which we are able to incorporate so much user experience into very little volume. By this is mean all of Snapchat can be utilized fully by simply swiping between three pages. This makes the user experience simple and easy.
Two impacts you think you would be faced with if you didn't have access to that platform any longer:
1) I would lose a close relationship with friends. This is because we are all constantly using this application to communicate throughout the day and without we would not interact as much.
2) Second, I would lose the current events information I am constantly getting from the application. I am a big new person and I am always getting my information for the application.
One way that you would like to see that platform meaningfully enhanced in the future:
The one meaningful enhancement I would like to see in the future is simplifying usability. In the above section, I said I loved the simplicity of the software and this is true. Having three main pages was a major benefit and a reason I enjoy the application. But when navigating around features of the application there are some very confusing and difficult gestures which must be done in order to accomplish tasks. This is the area in which I believe can be improved on. The way in which this could be achieved is through a software update. In this update, we could see these secondary gestures reengineered and integrated into the experience much better. Things like, making it easier to find your friends, and integrating a friend list that isn’t hidden in the application will all make the program as a whole better and could really improve the overall experience of the application.
