Part C – Individual Evaluation

Question: To what extent did your own contributions benefit the group, and how has your understanding of cultural diversity been enhanced as a result of your participation? Discuss and evaluate your own actions and learning.

As a result of selection by the teacher my group consisted of Breana, keranah, seaton and myself.

Idea formation

We individually created mind maps exploring our ideas before our group formed together, we started with our first idea, creating a fashion show showing different cultural garments with cultural finger food. This idea fell through due to cost, individuals schedules and …. Issues. Breana and I used our initiative to form a new idea, we decided to present a material culture display in our schools library. With little time left in presenting our project this was perfect.

Coming to an agreed topic upon which a method can be constructed

Role establishment

As we were bringing in material objects, with the little time we had left to present we decided to bring in items we had at home which held cultural value and we could research. Kearnah brought in a photo of a Japanese mask and made an interactive Easter island display, Breana brought in babushka dolls, Japanese sword cover, Egyptian necklace and Japanese gown, Seaton brought in a photo of a aboriginal boomerang as well as researching countries flags, as for myself I brought chopsticks and a manikin with a hijab.
