TASK 1

Dear Director of Golden Land Travel and Tour Co. Ltd. ,

        As I run check up upon your company before upgrading, the devices currently in used are 3 computers,  TP-link wireless router, 8 port ethernet swith, ADSL modem and CAT5 for cable. I also found 10 staff with andriod phone each and 3 staff that doesn’t need to use computer. The network system currently in used are peer to peer network system and 1 mbps ADSL line.

MOBILE AND CURRENT DEVICES

        First of all, about moblie and current devices. Since all the staff are using andriod phone it isn’t necessary to change to iOS. About the current devices, the router that company had been using its out-of-date now. So it is better to change it to MikroTik router which has more features and more useful. But we can still used this current wireless router for the guests because the MikroTik router will only be useable by the company staff. The 8 port switch which is currently in used should be upgraded to 16 port ethernet switch considering future upgrade and scalibility. There is 3 computer currently in used but we will be needing another 4 more because its better to let the staff used individual computer. As for the cable CAT6 is better but its not necessary, therefore I recommend to used CAT5e cable because its the second best.

INTERNET CONNECTIONS AND BANDWIDTH

        Another thing is the internet connection and bandwidth. There are more than 20 hosts including computers and phones from staffs and guests. Therefore, I recommend to take separate 3 mbps ADSL line aside from current 1 mbps ADSL line. By doing this, we can separate the connection for business and staff from the guests. So even after separating, I would recommend to limit the bandwidth based on priority. First priority goes to CEO as the head of company must not face problem like slow connection, busy traffic when he is dealing business online. Limiting the staffs usage bandwidth would give more bandwidth to the higher priority user.  

NETWORKING

        Next thing is about the network system. Peer to peer network is easy to install and the configuration of computers on this network is not complicated at all. All the resources, documents, files and contents are shard by all the computer on this network. Peer-to-peer network is more reliable in a way as there is no centrailized server. Even if one computer fails it doesn’t affect other computer or the network, while on the other hand the whole network will be affect if the server goes down in domain based network. Peer to peer network don’t need full time system administrator and the overall cost of building and maintainence of this network is far less than domain network
