The larger a school is, the more information the school has. According to the CCSF freshmen orientation, there are more than 3,000 credit students and 8,000 non-credit students currently register in the college. There are a number of information all around the campus, which usually comes with the problem: disperse information. Disperse information results in the problem that there isn’t a place effectively gathering classified information for freshman student. There are publicity boards around the Ocean campus. Nevertheless, it is very arduous for a freshman student to look through every information on every board in order to find the information he or she wants. Even if he or she finds the information they need, the validity of those information is troubling to identify as well. The unobservable notice results in missing of tryouts for a school sports team or the club registers.
Firstly, a freshman supporting organization is requisite for freshmen student to recieve all kinds of information. One of the responsibilities of the supporting organization is to assist students to adapt the new environment, which including offering cataloged information. For instance, there is a famous popular school organization, originate in Twaiwan, named Xuezhangtuan, which means sophomore help freshmen. Xuezhangtuan is similar to student supporting student service of CCSF. Unlike the student supporting studentt service, volunteering students manage Xuezhangtuan directly and catalog the information from students’ perspective. In addition, Xuezhangtuan is a platform for students to increase contacts. This kind of organization is beneficial to freshmen students receiving information more effectively.
Furthermore, a club department is attached to the Student Union is an effective way to resolve the problem of lacking club and sports team information. There is not any explicit information of CCSF sports teams and clubs around the campus such as when and where are the tryouts. For a freshmen student, it is confusing that how to find the information since there isn’t a place gathering the disperse information. Setting up a club department gets a better way to manage over 50 clubs in the Ocean campus. Also it provides the chance for clubs to share information with the others.
