Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to provide an insight of SEBL human resource department. The information on which this report is based on is from primary sources such as employee interviews, and secondary sources such as online journals, books, magazines and internet.
SEBL started its business operation in Bangladesh on the 12th of April 1961.
SEBL has a centralized HR department with the HR department of Bangladesh.
SEBL maintains a certain international standard in its recruitment process, hiring candidates from both internal and external sources who possess the right skills & aptitudes for filling the job post. The company undertakes rigorous selection procedures using selection tools such as management assessment center to identify the right candidate for the job in question.
It has a comprehensive training program which provides onboarding, training on company policy, job rotation, off the job training. Performance & developmental ratings is used to appraise employees on various traits with performance values ranging from „Outstanding‟ to „Developmental‟. SEBL faces HR issues such as internal rivalry, biasness & lack of corrective action and for all of which remedies are given at the end of this report.
Introduction:
Southeast Bank Limited’s a private commercial bank in Bangladesh. The Bank journey began when it was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on March 12, 1995. In the Registrar of joint stock Companies and Firms issued the Certificate of Commencement of Business of the Bank on the same date. The Southeast Bank received its Banking License from the Bangladesh Bank on March 23, 1995. e Bank’s First branch was opened by Late M. Saifur Rahman, the then Honorable Finance Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh as the Chief Guest at the commercial hub of the country at 1, Dilkusha Commercial Area, Dhaka on May 25, 1995. The incumbent Chairman of the Bank is Mr. Alamgir Kabir, FCA. Mr. M. A. Kashem a member of the Board and Mr. Yussuf Abdullah Harun were past Presidents of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries. At present, 32% of SEBL's employees are women that will rise to 45% over the next five years. Southeast Bank is run by a team of efficient professionals. They create and generate an environment of trust and discipline that encourages and motivates everyone in the Bank to work together for achieving the objectives of the Bank. The culture of maintaining congenial work - environment in the Bank has further enabled the staff to benchmark themselves better against management expectations. A commitment to quality and excellence in service is the hallmark of their identity. Southeast Bank Limited has branches all over Bangladesh and its aim is to be the leading bank in the country's principal markets. The bank by concentrating on the activities in its area of specialization has achieved good market reputation with efficient customer service. The Bank is committed to providing continuous training to its staff to keep them up to date with modern practices in their respective fields of work. The Bank also tries to fulfill its share in community responsibilities. By such measures the Bank intends to grow and increase shareholders' earning per share. Southeast Bank Limited pledges to maximize customer satisfaction through services and build a trusting relationship with customers, which has stood the test of time for the last few years.
