I Smell Danger
Spiders. What do you think of when you hear the word “spider”? A spider may appear giant and creepy, tiny and giant as scary, and small as fascinating. To me when I think of a spider I think of creepy and gross no matter how big it is. I can handle a tarantula in a cage or someone else holding one but I can’t handle a spider that is super close to me. I agree with Ron Weasley in Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets with the spiders. In the movie he says “Follow the spiders?!, why couldn’t it be follow the butterflies?”
As I watch movies with spiders I either become freaked out or I’m totally fine with them. One movie that I have watch is Arachnophobia which was edited. This movie is a horror movie and I thought I was going to be freaked out. There were spiders coming out of everywhere in every direction but for some reason it had no effect on me. On the other hand, the spiders in Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets did scary me. They were freaky and seeing them for the first time in the movie it was a bit scary to even watch.
One thing that I loathe the most is watching something die even a small spider although at the same time I want them dead. It happens a lot when I see a spider and I tell my dad to kill it then for some reason I can’t watch it. Maybe it’s another fear of watching something die we just don’t see it that much as a fear. As I hear or think of a spider I feel like there crawling on me and I have the urge to itch. I either shiver with a small quiver throughout my body. I feel like they’re everywhere and like I can’t go anywhere I feel trapped. I have Arachnophobia.
Everybody has a fear. Something that scares us has an unsatisfactory feel that sends chills down our spines. No matter how big or small our fears may be, it is very crucial that we don’t let our fears take control over our lives. Millions fear the thought of losing a loved one, a job, or on a smaller scale; failing a test, getting sick or speaking in public. Fear can prevent people from living their lives and loving others around them. I will admit it that I have fears, just as everyone else in the world, but I try my best not to let them get the best of me while I’m living my life the way I want to.
“The only thing we have to fear, is fear its self” Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) said. Fear is described as something we can control. Which is true but we can’t always control but how we show what we fear makes others want to make you fear something different. We shouldn’t let other’s plan out our own lives for us and have them control it because the way I see it is it’s not worth my time or effort.
Fear is a great factor in our lives we technically need it to survive. Everyone has a fear of anything at all. Even the smallest and simplest things people can be afraid of. There is always a positive side to fear though. It may not be perfect but without fear we would never have doubt and without doubt we could never overcome our fears. As FDR said in his quote, fear is the only thing we have to fear it all which depends on how we live our lifestyles. We all are different in some ways whether it’s the way we live our lives or how capable we are in our lives.
Although there aren’t always bad things in something you fear something always comes around that makes you laugh or say let’s do that again. People are able to skydive when they are afraid of falling others are able to go on rollercoasters when they have a fear of it breaking down. But just because that fear is there doesn’t mean it’s there to stop you from what you like to do. You always have to keep trying and always remember to keep doing what helps you face your doubts. Always doubt your doubts never shy away from them or they will become worse.
