Staying Hydrated

Drinking water is crucial for the human body, so people must drink a plethora of water. My behavioral modification is for me to stay hydrated more by drinking a ton of water. The reason for why I am choosing this behavior is to increase my intake of water and to get rid of drinking too many soft drinks slowly. Water helps to assist with losing weight and helps one perform better as the day goes on. Drinking water happens when I plan and think when I am super dehydrated, and when I am not stressed out. It does not happen when I am stressed out, and I am on a tight schedule. Therefore, if I drink more water throughout the day, the better my body feels and the healthier it will be. In the long run, drinking eighty ounces of water daily will give my body healthier outcomes than if I were to drink only soft drinks.

My intervention plan was to drink an adequate amount of water daily. My goal was to drink about eighty ounces of water daily. I knew that if I tried to drink eighty ounces immediately that I would more likely sway away from doing this behavior. Therefore, I tweaked this behavior. Instead of starting right at eighty ounces per day, I moved the objective down so where I will be drinking fifty ounces for the first week; then for the second week, I would raise it sixty per day. For week three, it will be seventy, and then for the final and fourth week, it would be my primary goal of eighty ounces per day. By doing this, it will allow me to reach my goal with much ease, and it will enable me to stay true to following through. Now, if I drink and reach my daily intake of water for that day, I will reward myself by consuming one bottle of a soft drink. If I do not reach my daily goal, then I am not allowed to drink a soft drink. Now, for my weekly goal, I will reward myself by watching two hours of television for the weekend. Then, if I do not reach my weekly goal, I cannot go out and hang with the friends. To record how many ounces of water I drink, I will write down in my notes every time I drink water. Once I get back to my dorm, I will transfer all my data for that day into my computer which will allow to quickly set up my charts and graphs once I am done with my research.

The behavior plan was implemented just as how it was designed. I started the first week at fifty ounces, and as each week went by, I increased it by ten ounces until I reached to eighty ounces. The plan was followed with much fidelity. I stayed on course the whole time, and I drank all the required ounces for that day. Whenever I tried not to drink the required amount of water, I would make myself drink because of what I promise myself. I as a person will never go back on my word because I am looked down upon by my own self. This plan seemed like it would be a problem at first because I would rarely drink that much water daily, but once I started doing this behavior, drinking tons of water frequently became an easier task than it was at first. The one that implemented the plan was me. I was getting tired of drinking soft drinks for almost every meal. Soft drinks taste good, but in the end, they are not that good for you. Water is a necessity for the body, yet I was not drinking enough. I would feel sluggish and would be irritated quickly because my body was cranky for not receiving the amount of water it needs daily. But now,
