What is your career strategy for the next five years? To what extent does your strategy fit with your long term goals, the characteristics of the external environment, and your own strengths and weaknesses?
Although 5 years seem far fetch, the importance of a mission statement reflects the current strategic direction that one wants to travel and lays the groundwork for the years to come. In many respects as well as my case, it is committing to what you already know about yourself. As I manage to be in the field of intelligence, Volunteering for positions and task that are a bit above my grade has been the ground in promoting myself to higher executive, and showing the eagerness in wanting to get the job done.
Working in a field which requires constant and unexpected changes, can be very challenging for junior officers in terms of having the proper management skills, and high level of confidence during briefing sessions, and in presenting facts that ca be thoroughly questions by high level and senior executives. The steady hard work and proactivity has placed enough confidence in my seniors to place as Deputy of an entire section, which is totally rare for a junior officer of grade. My telling does not reside behind the idea of enumerating accomplishment but to rather show that how much goals can start making you strategically even in the realm of a work environment. As I intent to acquire a position that will make specialize in a foreign specific area, those strategic are getting more align to my understanding of the workplace. After all, it is the same as the idea of Organizational design; it complements the goals and values of an organization. Therefore the nature of my work environment gives me the purpose to learn and know to communicate, strive through a competitive force, and think outside of the box. Quick decision making processes are needed by employees so they can meet the demands of their own internal or external customers and suppliers
