1. Describe an action that might be considered part of a strategic plan for disaster recovery in a financial institution. Describe two actions that might be considered part of a tactical plan.
The two actions that might be considered part of a tactical plan for disaster recovery in a financial institution are Ken Rubin of Iron Mountain cites. This cites is more sophisticated than the first which is “Mirroring” technique. Other than that, “Electronic Vaulting” is also one of the best tactical plan because it provides a continuous back up and data recovery via the web.
2. How might a SWOT analysis help in the development of a disaster recovery plan?
SWOT analysis are strength, weakness, opportunity and threats. SWOT is a structured planning method that evaluates those four elements of an organization. So that, SWOT analysis could help in the development of a disaster recovery plan. First, the company should build their own strengths by keeping necessary data in their vaults in another locations to help the company not to lose their competitive advantage when a disaster happens. Second, the company should minimizing weakness by upgrade their sophisticated strategies for storing and backing up their data. Moreover, they should also identify their own opportunities by doing research or brain storming. It would help them to ensuring that the necessary data are protected when an avoidable disaster happens. By using SWOT analysis it will help the company to identify their strengths and counteract their problems.
