Subhas Chandra Bose

Today we can freely move around in certain countries without anyone questioning us or restricting us on going anywhere, we feel satisfied and free. But this satisfaction is due to the efforts and hard work of our freedom fights to free these countries from the former rule. Their sayings, sacrifices, and torment have resulted in the freedom that we enjoy today in our countries. For a long period of time India was ruled by the country of Britain. One of our many freedom fighters was Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Bose was a popular leader in the political scene for the fight for independence. He was such a leader that they gave him the nickname Netaji which means a leader. He was born in 1897 and died in 1945. He lived in Calcutta where he began his career. He was influenced at a very young age by Swami Vivekananda's teachings and was a student of his. After finishing his studies in the Indian Civil Service in England, he became under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi but opposed his non-violence struggle and supported the aggressive fight against the British. As a result he joined the Indian National Congress. He won the chair of President for the congress in 1939. In May 1939, Subhas formed the Forward Bloc within the congress. The Forward Bloc became militant by April 1940. Gandhi and his supporters accused Subhas of violence and got Subhas removed from the Congress Working Committee and restrained him from holding any office for three years. As he spoke in the public for the fight from freedom he was jailed 11 times in periods varying between 6 months and 3 years. He then went to Germany escaping the British jail in 1941, and then started setting up anti-British activities with the German government.
