While some people say it’s good being a vegetarian as it reduces the incidence of diabetes and other diseases. Others say it’s harmful for our bodies as you could have a higher risk of heart diseases and a type of cancer.
From a medical point of view, Supporters of vegetarianism believe that it’s better for our health to become vegetarians. They say that this act protects us from many dangerous diseases as it reduces the risk of cataract development which decreases the vision and cardiovascular disease which is a disease that involves the heart or blood vessels. Also, it decreases the chance of developing kidney stones. It may improve symptoms of psoriasis and gives you less risk of stroke and obesity. Moreover, vegetarianism improves our health and appearance as it helps us to lose weight and have a perfect body. So, supporters insist that vegetarian diet can satisfy all your nutritional requirements and it’s the best way to live healthier without being infected with serious kind of diseases.
Supporters claim that humans have no right to use the animals as their meals because they are souls like us which is their ethical point of view. They think that animals aren’t essential for us to live and we don’t need them to survive as there are many other alternatives available., like vegetables which contain all the vitamins and nutrients that human body needs. In addition, they don’t want animals to be killed or harmed, as they believe that animals are like humans and want to live freely not in cages or farms waiting to be killed one day. Also, animals feel pain when their babies are taken away from them to be slaughtered by humans to eat them. So, it’s clear that the reasons of being a vegetarian differ from one person to another, as some of them take this decision because they want to be healthier, others don’t love to eat meat and any animal products. And then the people who are sensitive and care about animal rights.
On the other hand, opponents think that our health will be affected badly if we become vegetarians. As animal products contain many components that our body needs and the lack of it would cause diseases. In fact, being a vegetarian causes deficiency of B12 vitamin which is important for stress management, adrenal health and brain function. Also, calcium, zinc and iron exist mainly in animal products which help in avoiding lower bone density and osteoporosis. Furthermore, vegetarianism would lead to colorectal cancer and heart disease. In contrast to the supporters, opponents think that vegetarianism leads to excessive weight gain, as when you avoid meat you end up eating too many calories in starches like bread and pasta.. Animal products helps in the growing process of humans and improve their health as proteins that exists in it helps in building our muscles and have a stronger body. Besides, there are psychological effects of being a vegetarian as you could suffer from higher states of anxiety and depression due to the shortage of the essential vitamins and amino acids which is found only in meat products.
Opponents complete criticizing the supporters of vegetarianism. As, they believe that eating animals isn’t inhumane and there’s no wrong to benefit from them. They say that also plants are living organisms like animals, so vegetarians must be sad for the plants they eat not only the animals as plants have feelings exactly like the animals they defend. Moreover, god made animals for us to eat and this is the life norm. So, we can’t object to god’s wisdom.
In conclusion, there are many different opinions about vegetarianism some people praises it and others despises it. And as for me, I think that being a vegetarian isn’t a good idea as it has many bad effects on our health and we can suffer from many diseases such as colorectal cancer and heart disease. Also, we can’t get rid of meat due to its huge importance to us as it contains vitamins and proteins which our body needs.
