WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEARNER

Learning is a process of acquiring knowledge or skill through study, experience or teaching. One absorbs information not only from university and other educational institutions, but also from your daily life. There are different methods to be a good learner and this essay will provide suggestions about how to develop and improve your learning skills to better achieve your objectives.

In order to develop your learning skills, you need to think strategically and put aside time for self-management. It is important to enjoy your studies otherwise you might approach your studies inefficiently. Thus, to avoid inefficient strategies throughout your learning skills, you need to manage strategically to achieve your objectives. However, there is a need to set your own priorities, for instance, your priorities could be to obtain a certain qualification, update your knowledge etc.

Strategic thinking involves forecasting and planning, which is essential to succeed in what you are studying. You need to develop your time management (forecasting), for example, do not wait to write your essay the day before your deadline. This is due to the time you need to go through

the essay encase of writing mistakes and other misinterpretations. You will also have the possibility to ask someone such as other colleagues or classmates to read through

the essay to receive feedback which you can utilise to improve your essay. Time management also includes providing a schedule of your daily activities in order to yield the maximal of your time in studies and other matters.

Reading before lectures is an effective way to keep up and most importantly the ability to prepare questions on uncertain issues around the learning topics. However, it is more important to listen actively and try to understand the lecture than writing notes to avoid getting behind.
