September, 1999, in a small conference room in Taiwan University, the NK selecting board still couldnÐŽ¦t come to a final agreement of whom to select for K58ÐŽ¦s administration division. The selecting committee had nine members in total. They were 4 headquarter members including president of NK, chief of education division, chief of consulting division and chief of administration division and the other five were members from education division. There should be eight new talents added to the new administration group and six of eight have been selected. It was 3 AM in the morning and nobody in this nine people selecting committee had slept from the last 19 hours. President Wallace just announced for a 10 minutes break. Wallace suggested everyone to have some refresh-drink and review all the objected previously concluded for selection standards and he also reminded everyone to think as pro and con to break the blind spots. As the debate went on and on, Kathy, chief of the education division was wondering when a final decision could be made. To her, the picks were pretty obvious but she wanted her group members to undergo all the conflicts and hopefully to come out with the same decision as the headquarters expected. Next semester, members from education division will be promoted to become members of headquarter and it was very important for them to learn through this important selecting process.

What is NK Association?

NK Association (NK), one of the student organizations of China Youth Corporation (CYC), is the top Kang-Fu (KF) association between all KF student associations over universities in Taiwan. Kang-Fu is a direct translation from Chinese, with a similar meaning to recreation but more than that, KF is a mean to transfer a positive objective by any healthy and pleasant mean, especially under a condition with a group people doing some well-designed activities together, sharing ideas and having fun. The other way of saying that, KF is to achieve the goal of coaching and counseling in a mean that is not only physically healthy and happy but also mentally.

Every summer and winter vacation, NK holds a 5day-4night training camp for elites from universitiesÐŽ¦ student association to come studying. Initially, universities will have their extracurricular activities divisions to select outstanding and qualified students to join the camp; most of them are leaders of students association. Some universities let their KF association to select the candidates by considerable process. Candidates need to prove that they have a potential to best learn and bring back the skill they learn from NK training-camp to benefit the associations. Approximately, there are 180 to 200 trainees to participate in each camp. Each session, NK will provide diverse classes and innovated activities for trainees to learn and bring back to their associations. NK not only provides essential elements to Kang-Fu field but also put new ideas and create innovation. By transferring the ideas and demonstrating new type of activities, NK leads a trend that affects the entire Kan-Fu field. It leads Kang-Fu to a continuously improving direction. So to speak, NK is the Vogue in Kang-Fu ÐŽ§industryЎЁ and that make every one involved in this area be proud of being selected as a NK trainee and completing the training.

Structure of NK Association

As an organization, NK has four different divisions followed by a tier system from the bottom to the top, they are divisions of administration, consultation and education and the top authorized headquarter. Formally, it takes 2 years for a NK Pro to ÐŽ§graduateЎЁ from NK association. NK Pro (members of NK association) works in a division throughout the whole semester continuing with the training camp and then they are eligible to move upward to a higher level division.

Generally, all nine members in administration division can move up to consultation division if all of them are determined qualified. However, there can only be 5 members in the education division and 4 in headquarter. When a new semester starts, the old headquarter members will resign and the members in education division will have a peer evaluation to determine who the final 4 members are moving up to headquarter and who should take which director position. Later on, new headquarters will evaluate the other members to determine if they are qualified to move upwards. Any members who did not achieve the standard will be terminated but still be recognized as a senior member of NK.

Under this circle, each semester, NK needs to recruit members for its administration division and at the same time bring in the fresh blood to the association. While recruiting the new freshmen, NK Pro picks up the trainees who had outstanding performance during the training-camp and invite them to come for the selection.
