Technology and UPS

To begin with, UPS has a wide range of information technology infrastructures, as well

as advanced measures to help keep up with the growing information world that is in present time.

Moreover, UPS uses its information technology to track and forecast the movement of products

to ensure customers can check each step of the journey. In addition to its unparallel information

support features, UPS's technology leadership also gives customers tools to plan and supervise

their supply chains to maximize productivity. On the other hand, UPS, together with its global

technological infrastructure, uses the largest private database and largest private wireless

network in the world today. UPS uses a variety of excellent services to meet customer and

business needs as well.

David Barnes, the Chief Information Officer at UPS, has helped UPS be one of the

CampusShip, Internet Shipping, and ConnectShip.

The first shipping solution is CampusShip, which is a very secure web-based shipping

from their desktop, as well as perform other shipping-related tasks that are relevant to them. This

service can be established by using any computer with Internet access. In addition, UPS

CampusShip has a pleathora of administrative features that can help many organizations reduce

costs, improve productivity, and provide better service to their customers or clients alike. These

features include web-based shipping, centrally controlled UPS service levels, easy to use address

customer or client services as well.1

The second shipping solution is the reliable and fast Internet Shipping. This method of

shipping is doesn't require any additional software to use because it is done using the web. All

users need is an internet connection, a My UPS ID, and a credit card number to set up shipments.

Some features of this service include storing personal address books, using shipping history

resources, E-mail notification alerts, customizable preferences, and ready-to-use labels.

Moreover, the benefits of Internet Shipping include improved productivity, growing better

relationships for recipients, providing better services, and reducing errors as well.1

The third shipping solution is a shipping management system called ConnectShip.

ConnectShip provides companies with a variety of carrier shipping solutions that enable many

customers to integrate and centrally manage their shipping processes. Also, ConnectShip

provides several products that enable customers to improve operational and management

efficiencies related to shipping processes. These products are Toolkit, Warehouse, ChainLink,

Merchant, and Advisor which are all provided by ConnectShip. Moreover, these products feature

integrated business documents generation, carrier compliant data uploads, and International

shipping with customs and export documents. In addition, the benefits of ConnectShip are

increased efficiency by removing costly steps to bridge different systems together, reducing

overall costs of systems management by fixing shipping functionality, and improving shipping

management as a result of better accurate data.
