Teenager is the stage where the physical and mental condition of a person develops which occurs between childhood and adulthood. Teenager is connected with adolescence. It is a stage of maturation. It starts at age 13 for boys and 12 in girls. It is a time when an individual begins to function independently of their parents. Teenager is a word commonly used which is also related to teen, youth, young adult and emerging adult. Puberty is the time when a child's body starts to change to look more like and adult.
During the teenage stage, a person undergoes certain transformations. It involves physical, emotional, mental and psychological changes.
Physical changes in a young adult includes enlargement of the Adam's apple for boys and development of breasts for girls. Hormonal balance also shifts strongly towards an adult stage. Hormonal balance is initiated by the pituitary glands that is responsible for the secretion of hormones such as testosterone or estrogen into the blood stream and begins the fast development of the gonads.
Psychological transformation is often noticed in notable change in mood which is known as Mood Swings. Attitude of a teenagers towards certain things include viewing their friends as more important than their own family. Because they prioritize their friends and peers during this stage they do things which is not accepted by society.
Sexual development is also developing during a teenagers life. Physical changes that occurs during puberty is responsible for the appearance of the sex drive. Teenagers feel the urge to perform sexual acts during this stage.
