On the 3rd of March in 2007, 3 year old Madeline McCann was abducted or went missing while she and Madeline’s parents, Kate and Gerry, were holidaying in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
She was taken their holiday apartment where she was sleeping with her younger brother and sister, whilst her parents were dining just 50 yards from the apartment. There have been many different twists to her disappearance and lots of theories have risen through out the duration of her disappearance. The parents Kate and Gerry have been blamed for her disappearance as well as being a suspect from the Portugal Police. Many citizens around the globe have claimed they’ve seen or recognised a similar looking girl fitting the description of Madeline, but still she has not been found. Kate and Gerry hired a private investigator in the help to find Madeline. The parents have tried numerous things to help recover their daughter but still there has not been any sight of Madeline since the day she went missing.
a) There is so much media hype surrounding these stories because a lot of people would be interested and feel for the families that go through this terrible tragedy. When a child goes missing it is very sad.
b) Parents often become suspects in these kinds of crimes because there may not be any real evidence that the children or child was taken by a stranger. There have been cases where parents have kidnapped or murdered their own child or children and covered it up claiming the children had been kidnapped or taken. Therefore the attention focuses back to the parents and some heavy questions are asked to eliminate them as suspects or convict them.
c) I think some may move on an except that their child will never be seen again, and some will never stop looking, always having hope to fins their child or children. It would be very hard to say to yourself that your child is dead or you won’t ever see them again because you
