My name is Name; I am currently attending my second year school/degree. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your generosity in funding the name of Scholarship. I would also like to tell you that I am very honored to be the recipient of this award.

I am from what it used to be a small town down south, Laredo, Texas. However, I attended school in the Mexican border town of Laredo. There I volunteered in the Mexican Red cross while I was a junior high student. During the time I volunteered I was able to observe the work that nurses and doctors did with the underserved population. That is when I decided to become a nurse.

I decided to become a nurse for two reasons. First, I prefer nursing to medicine because, in my experience, nurses are able to have a much closer relationship with their patients. As a nurse, I will be able to interact directly with the patients, to show them and their relatives that they are not alone, that they have someone to rely on, to listen to them, and to help them find solutions. Second, nurses combine people skills with technology, that is to say, physical science with social science, two areas in which I feel quite capable.

The last year of studies have been wonderful, however, it has been very challenging. I have been able to maintain GPA thanks to generous individuals such as you. For this reason, I want to let you know that I really appreciate your generous scholarship support. It will allow me to continue concentrating in school and worry about finances
