Why is the Amur leopard critically endangered you ask? Well, there are many answers to that question. First of all, there are many wildfires that rid of the Amur leopard’s habitat. These wildfires stand unattended and out of control, with nobody trying to put these fires out. Second, just outside of the Kedrovaya Pad reserve, there is a village. Those villagers hunt the Amur leopards for food and cash. After killed, the villagers can sell the Amur leopard, eat it, and do whatever they want with it. Finally, any person, if wanted to, could go and poach an Amur leopard for its lush, fur coat. One leopard’s fur can sell for over $1000, and lots of people kill the Amur leopard for the big money. Therefore, the Amur leopard is critically endangered. Did you know you can help the Amur leopard not go extinct?
You can do many things that can help this problem of Amur leopards. One thing you can do is adopt an Amur leopard on WWF, and all the money you pay will go to protecting the Amur leopard from poachers. You also could donate/fund an organization supporting Amur leopards such as WWF (World Wildlife Fund), ALTA (Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance), WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), etc. At last you can write a letter to your government asking him to talk to Russia’s government about the Amur leopards and if they could do something about the problem, or ask your government to put some money to the cause.
