The Autobmobile

On July 23, 1903 Henry Ford sold his first automobile. Ford had no expectations to change the country with his company. He ended up creating the greatest invention of all time. The automobile enabled Americans to travel great distances quickly, expanded job opportunities, and created a new hobby.
Before the automobile was created Americans had to either travel by foot or horse and carriage/ wagon. This created many, many problems. First of all traveling by foot could take weeks or months, at least f you were to take a wagon out; it could be days before reaching the destination. If people were traveling by wagon, they'd have to raise live stock, and bring things to keep them alive and things for themselves! Families would have to travel all cramped in a hot wagon with limited food and water. Diseases that could not be cured easily at the time were a major threat to people as well. The automobile uses an engine, not an animal or human being allowing fast, non stop driving. The car is always ready to go where you want it to, when you want it to.
The invention of the automobile in the United States expanded job opportunities across the country. Since the depression would soon come more job opportunities were very important. People needed gas stations, car washes, and mechanics to tend to their cars. Cars allowed people to expand from the city to the suburban life. The need for highways and newly paved roads came into place giving construction workers more jobs. The suburban life was cheaper which the popular growing middle-class wanted. Fast food jobs were also created because people could get their food fast using a drive through window. Police and ambulance could get around much faster which was one of the key factors in the invention of the automobile. Emergencies could be tended to while being taken to the hospital with ease.
