The Chiropractic Choice

Although alternative medicine has been reviled in the past, these days, more people accept the idea of chiropractics based on positive experiences and results. Chiropractics are a system of therapy in which disease is considered the result of abnormal function of the nervous system. The method of treatment usually involves manipulation of the spinal column and other body structures. I have never taken antibiotics or experienced a childhood illness. My family has experienced the worlds of both pediatrics and chiropractics with very different results. After years of infections and illnesses, my parents transitioned away from modern medicine drastically improving the overall health of our family. Chiropractic care, although discouraged by the medical community, directly affects every aspect of the body, resulting in decreased illness, increased immunity, and complete health.

The amount of infections and illnesses, especially in children, drastically decreases when treated with chiropractics. Fifteen years ago, my parents left their pediatrician when ear infections, and runny noses were a constant reoccurrence. After the transition to chiropractic care, their children’s immune systems no longer relied on antibiotics and were less susceptible to viruses and bacteria. My neighbor has an eleven year old, a nine year old, and a seven year old, all of whom experience strep throat, allergies, and other sicknesses often. After babysitting for them for three years, I noticed a sudden reduction in ailments. Their mother explained that they had begun seeing a chiropractor recently and were enjoying positive results. These clear examples demonstrate the reduction of common childhood illnesses due to the choice of chiropractic care.

If someone is raised in a lifestyle centered on this alternative medicine, his or her immunity becomes stronger. My family became involved in alternative medicine when I was born; therefore, I have grown up seeing only chiropractors my entire life. I recently went on a mission trip to Honduras where several immunizations were recommended to prevent dangerous diseases. I went to this third world country without the advised vaccines due to my medical history that reflects a strong immune system. About fifty percent of our team members spent a few days sick with stomach viruses, but I experienced no such discomfort. They informed me of their recent immunizations and were extremely baffled by what they were experiencing. Their mystification escalated when I mentioned my avoiding their sickness as well as having any history with antibiotics. This demonstrates the effect that a lifetime of chiropractics has personally had on me.

In chiropractics, problems are addressed rather than symptoms masked with medication. Before I was born, our pediatrician simply prescribed an antibiotic that would eliminate the symptoms my older siblings were experiencing. This is a never-ending cycle in the medical community. One prescription for one symptom with side affects which lead to more prescriptions. Chiropractics, unlike the rest of the medical community, do not have a direct relationship with pharmaceutical companies because they use herbs instead of antibiotics.
