The three primary differences between the commercial casino industry and the tribal government gaming industry are: Owner of the operation, revenue generation, and the economic impact of the casino. Commercial casinos are the private casinos that are owned and run by the private individuals or a company. The government has no intervention. On the other hand, the tribal government gaming industry is strictly owned and run by the government. The goal behind is to generate revenue for the government services and help the local communities. Revenue generations of commercial casinos are higher compared with the tribal government gaming industry. All the revenues are accrue directly to the owner of the casino.  The owners of the commercial casino are taxed differently according to the rules and regulations of that particular states in which they run their casinos. The government owns all the revenues generated through tribal government gaming. The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) defines limits of how these revenues generated by the tribal government gaming are used. Lastly, when it comes to economic impact commercial casinos generating more revenues have a higher impact on the economy when compared to the tribal gaming. It has created a national impact, as there is more number of commercial casinos when compared to tribal gaming. Whether it’s generating job opportunities, paying wages, contributing to gaming taxes or earning revenue, commercial casinos impact is much higher. Tribal gaming has created an impact on the economy by generating revenues but there are still lots of improvements that are yet to make on the reservations.
