THE DEATH PENALTY
Some people are against the killing of others for any reasons. Other people feel that certain crimes should be punished by death. The death penalty is a very controversial topic in the United States today and has been for a number of years, because people's life is at risk. The reviewing the numbers of facts prove that the death penalty should not be enforced. I think death penalty is the ultimate denial of human rights. It violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment. It should be abolished in this country it's racial discrimination, the financial cost and barbarity.
Everyone should be strongly against the death penalty and I feel that death penalty must be abolished because it is immoral and it cheapens the value of human life. The death penalty desensitizes people to murder and violence because, by executing people, the state sends the message that violence is an acceptable means of resolving conflict. States in the United States that do not employ the death penalty generally have lower murder rates than states that do. The same is true when the U.S. is compared to countries similar to it. The U.S., with the death penalty, has a higher murder rate than the countries of Europe or Canada, which do not use the death penalty. Do not let people fool you with the words such as justice and deterrence, because the death penalty serves neither of these purposes. The fact is, death penalty is not a deterrent of crime, as the death penalty has been proven not to deter crime. The death penalty can not be moral, because taking another human life in such a fashion is not moral. Also, there is always racial bias and discrimination among different races. Now I ask you, is racial bias in human's life moral?
Many people do not realize that if there was less death penalty, a lot of money could be saved that could be used in many other ways. Many people are not aware how much it actually costs to put somebody death. Maybe if they knew that it costs more money to kill somebody than had the chance to spend in their entire life, would have a different opinion
