INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, it is seldom to see a young people use telephone to communicate or radio to get news. Instead of this, most of people tend to use social networks. In full disclosure, this is based on research my group has been doing this month.

  • Background

The internet in Vietnam has seen a rapid development in recent years. There has been a steady increase in both internet users, the number of websites, and the number of social networking users in Vietnam. According to the statistic in 2015, there are over 40% of people having social networking accounts and most of them are young people. It is claimed that social networks has made our world better to communicate. People can come together participate in discussions, forums and can acquire a list of services over the internet that at least possible costs. However, there are some disadvantages that affect negatively on attitude and behavior. People try to show off themselves on social network, they have gradually forgotten true value.

  • Purpose

To begin with, let’s first discuss about the main reasons that lead to the idea of the research.

  1. Because social network development leads to many social problem, influences on society. Therefore, we make the survey to find out “The demands of using social network in Vietnam”.
  2. After having answer for above question, we can make conclusion about the influence of social networks on people, motivate good effect and figure out the solution for bad affect.

  • Questionnaire

To solve the problem, a questionnaire is created for researchers to collect the evaluation among 100 Vietnamese people about social networks.

According to the outcome mentioned above, the questionnaire is designed that people choose one answer or more than one in some questions. The size of the question list is narrowed down to contain 5 questions in order to make it easier for interviewers to analyze the data, find out the solution as well as avoiding confusion.

The research questions for this study will be:

  1. Your age
  2. Which devices you usually use to connect the internet?
  3. How many hours do you spend on social network each day?
  4. What purpose do you use social network?
  5. What kinds of social network do you like?

METHODOLOGY

  • Population and sampling:
  • Population:

As the questionnaire is designed for information about Vietnamese social networks users, it is essential that all the citizen living in Viet Nam regardless of the difference in age participate in the survey. However, as the population is approximately 9 millions of people, it would be probably impossible to reach the ideal result. In such difficult situation, a sampling is picked out so as to represent the major idea.

  • Sampling:

The selected representatives are those who are students in International University and Facebook users. There are 50 printed copies questionnaire conducted by IU students and 50 others are posted online on Facebook account.

  • Procedure and timeframe:
  • Step-by-step procedure:

Firstly, questionnaire was formed based on the increasing level of using the Internet. Secondly, concrete the plan of getting answers from IU students and Facebook users was set. Thirdly, IU students were chosen hand out copies of question. Besides, answers also were collected from sharing posts on the Internet. Afterward, classification of answers was made to sketch the graph and analyze data for final result.

  • Time Frame:

Questionnaire and answers were completed in 3 days. On December 18th, answer collection was carried out in 2 IU libraries. The next two days (December 19th and 20th) link of questionnaire was posted on Facebook account. The answer collection and data graph were finished on the day after (December 21st). At the end of that day, the general ideas were built based on the responses and the researchers had meeting to sum up the result and gave the conclusion.
