I chose one of my favorite “diners” in Boston the Chinese Noodle House. It is a very popular noodle house run by Chinese people in Cambodia. It is famous because they hand make all the noodles in front of the guests and serve them in heaping bowls of noodle soup. One bowl of noodles with beef or duck is about $2, so you can easily find yourself sat next to total strangers during the packed lunch hour.
The food on the menu definitely reflects the ethnic roots of the Chinese. However, other than the owners, most of the staff is Khmer (Cambodian). Therefore, Khmer is spoken throughout the room, not Chinese. This is something you come to expect when two different ethnicities though.
The sign is in Chinese, Khmer, and English and the room decor is basic. Simple chairs and tables decorated with nothing but the array of condiments needed for the noodles.
