1. The “accumulative advantage” (also called "Matthew Effect") means that a little difference that leads to an opportunity that makes a bigger difference a bit bigger, and that edge in turns leads to another opportunity, which makes that initial small difference even bigger. I am a new student majored in marketing in Seneca college and I hope to be succeed in marketing field in the future. There are a large number of services and supports that I can get for an accumulate advantage. I want to highlight three of them I used in Seneca study.
The first important one for me is the workshops in learning centre. The workshops in learning centre provide a huge number of opportunities for me to understand further well of each of my course knowledge. If I have questions or confused with some concepts that professor taught in class, I can figure them out by going to the learning centre workshops. Workshops will show you the best way to study and help me to do better on my courses. Secondly, the SMILE program which help me to gain knowledge, self confidence and skills for success. I can improve the leadership and communication skills, transferable to future employment settings in SMILE. It is also an excellent volunteer experience to include on your resume. Finally, I will accumulate for a Seneca advantage by using SenecaWorks website. It is a useful and convenient website and an advantage that Seneca provides for students to find and seek their career. Finding a part-time job about marketing can helps me gain working experience and be ready for my work when I graduated in Seneca.
2. As far as I am concerned, I support both of nature and nurture are important to succeed in marketing filed. I had finished my bachelor degree of international business, and I want to learn more about marketing to help me run one small international trade company in the future. Therefore, I chose Business Administration of Marketing Coop program in Seneca college. Since I was a children, there were a lot of people told me that: “You are so smart and talkative, you know how to sale a product naturally, you should be a business woman.” I think I have the talent in marketing and I do got some achievements in this filed. I run a small business here by myself about sale luxuries goods back to China, and this business make me economic independent in Canada. When I do marketing, I felt blessed by my talents, because I am good at communicate and always easy to win people’s trust and support during communication.
