The Natural Oven
Many people think that global warming should be stopped because it is damaging the quality of the environment. Scientists think that global warming is a natural cycle where natural gases exchanges in the atmosphere and had played as a major role player during the history of Earth. A series of events that had happened thousands of years ago, led to the mass extinction of dinosaurs and to what many scientists called the Ice Age. Everybody knows that global warming is dangerous, but many people think that this cycle happens once in a while. It is not true. Human race is having a major impact which is leading to accelerate global warming. This issue is alarming and everybody needs to start working together to avoid an abrupt change in the climate. If this problem continues, it will be the end of the human race. Forces of nature will be devastating and nothing will be able to protect us against global warming.
The Columbia Encyclopedia on-line defines global warming as the gradual increase of the temperature of the Earth's lower atmosphere as a result of the increase of greenhouse gases since the Industrial Revolution. The greenhouse gases are natural gases that help the decomposition of impurities from the environment and help to produce oxygen. The most important of these gases is water vapor. Lesser gases include methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons. In the book Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years by S. Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery states the following:

The theory that human emissions of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, are heating the Earth beyond the levels of past climate variation, creating serious danger for the planet's ecosystem. (239)
There are statistical studies that everybody should know about global warming. This issue has to come to an end before is too late. The planet is already showing signs of the effects of global warming. The article Global Warming Fast Facts posted by the National Geographic on June 2007 states the following:
Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880... The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies... The Arctic is feeling the effects the most... Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. (sec. 1)
These numbers are very alarming and everybody should be scared because it is happening for real. However, at the rate that pollution is going, these number will probably double or triple in the next couple of years.
Global warming has different causes. There are natural causes and man-made causes. Natural causes are those ones that are caused by nature and people do not have anything to do with these ones. Some natural causes that would increase the temperature to rise are volcanoes. Volcanoes release plenty gases to the atmosphere. These gases work together with the greenhouse gases to establish a more stable cycle of the greenhouse effect.
On the other hand, man-made causes are those ones that are caused by humans.

These causes are having a higher effect on the climate that anything else. The number one man-made cause of global warming is pollution. This cause is affecting the planet in different ways: the soil, the water resources and the air. Air pollution is the worse one because is damaging the quality of the oxygen that everybody breaths. The sources involved in air pollution are motor vehicles and factories when they release into the atmosphere the killer carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is used by plants to produce oxygen, but too much is dangerous. In the book Under a Green Sky by Peter D. Ward states the following:
The carbon dioxide makes pretty clear that times of high carbon dioxide--and especially times when carbon dioxide levels rapidly rose--coincide with the mass extinctions. Here is the driver of extinction. Here is the cause of the changes in the ancient conveyer belts--short-term warming caused by increases in greenhouse gases. (136)
Pollution is due to an increase in population which is the second leading cause of global warming. The population during the twentieth century grew drastically that it was consider a bacterial infection. It is alarming how fast the population of our planet is growing and the need for more land to build more communities is critical, especially in Third World countries. Poverty and desperation are the main role players in these places.
Believe it or not, global warming is affecting our environment than anything else. The impact of global warming is worsening and have being increasing from the past century thanks to the industrial revolution. Everybody had noticed that the climate is changing and this impact is rising the temperature in our planet. Scientists had seen how the poles have started to melt. Also, the hurricanes had formed more frequently than ever. These signs are bad. In the book Unstoppable Global

Warming: Every 1,500 Years states the following:
Rising sea levels will flood cities and cropland, and submerge islands. More than a million of the world's wild species will go extinct in the next century. There will be more hunger and famine as fields become too hot to grow crops. There will be more storms and worse storms with global warming. Global warming will trigger abrupt global cooling. Human
