Synthesis: Because of the difference in the two regions, the Northern and the Southern regions of the U.S have gotten into a huge conflict, later known as the Civil War, but afterwards, the two were able to come together and compromise in order to become one nation again, benefiting from each other.
The South and the North are two different regions of the United States that have many differences, which could foresee conflict. The South has more humid and hot temperature that is more suitable for agriculture, where as the North had colder climate that would be more suitable for other industries, such as textile and shipbuilding. The South and the North had two completely different political policies and platforms in order to achieve the goals presented to each region through industry. The South embraced slavery and included many laws in order to help the South improve their agricultural yield. For example, the South approved of the Fugitive Slave Law, which allowed for the return of escaped slaves back to the correct territory. This Law helps to maintain the slaves that help plantations grow crops. They also embraced States’ Rights, so that the power stays local and the North could not influence their decisions and prevent their goals from being intervened. The North, however, had a manufacturing industry and did not require the use of slaves. Because of this they did not want the unethical practice of slavery to spread into their territory. For example, the Mason-Dixon line was an imagined boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania that separated free soil from slave states. The North wanted this line in order to prevent the further spread of slavery into the North. The North also wanted a strong national government in order to help them with their manufacturing goals and prevent slavery. One major concern for both regions is the concept
