The Place I Love - Switzerland

Over 4,000 miles across the Atlantic resides the glamorous country known as Switzerland. Outside the prestigious capital
of Lucerne nestled extraordinarily high in the great towering mountains known as the Swiss Alps is a family owned
lodge. I exit the chalet and make my way through the forest, using a flashlight in the darkness of twilight in the thick
canopy of woods. The persistent humming of insects reminds me of back home in Southwest Virginia. Exiting the forest I
come into a great windy clearing. Walking along the trail through the tall grass I look to both sides as I admire the great
snow-covered peaks of Switzerland, and I could not fathom how enormous the mountains were and how they make one
feel so insignificant compared to these monuments of nature. I could not comprehend the wonderful beauty of this
country; a shame the media does not do it justice. At last I finally arrive upon my destination, a pond. I slowly wade into
the cool, algae infested waters looking all around me at the glorious Alps in the distance. I exit the waters and walk to
the edge of the hillside. I gaze in awe, taking in the breath-taking sights of Lucerne: The towering mountains, the dimly
lit city, the shimmering lakes, and the mysterious woods. All five of my senses are in ecstasy: the cool grass beneath my
toes, the sweet taste of Swiss chocolate on my tongue, the smell of the fresh mountain air, the silence of the rural
country
