The Protection Of My Beliefs

The 1st Amendment is the right that means most to me. It allows me to express my beliefs to others, listen to his or her point of view, and make my own decisions. Another right that the 1st Amendment guarantees me is the right to practice my religion. Without that freedom I believe I would be forced to practice a religion whose beliefs I do not accept or banned from practicing religion at all. In my eyes, making my own educated decisions in my life and experiencing my personal relationship with God are powerful tools to wield.
When building my own morals and ethics I feel it is important to hear both sides of the story. In order to come to a firm belief, it is necessary to hear those views of which I agree to add to the definition of my morals. Furthermore, hearing those perspectives that are not agreeable help to confirm those beliefs I already possess or influence me to form new beliefs that make sense for me. Every opinion that I encounter unites the actuality of my self.
Because the 1st Amendment protects the expression of the singular and the whole of the Nation it also states that religion will be left for the individual to define. The religion of Wicca has been a target of the Christian church since Pilgrims settled in America and without the protection of the 1st Amendment I would not be able to exercise my beliefs without fear of being put to death as a Witch. Though still not totally safe from radical Christian churches I am protected by the government under the constitution and can no longer stand trial for charges of Witchcraft. The 1st Amendment has made religion a personal choice rather than a public necessity.
The 1st amendment has and most likely will remain the most meaningful right I have in America. Forming my moral code, exposure to new ideas, and the security of my faith are most important in determining the way I live. The constitution protects our freedom, equality and peace within our communities. The 27 Amendments
