I have a few minutes to myself so I think I shall do a little writing. Now folks, ya'll aren't going to believe this. Germany has announced that its "top prosecutor" is going seek a criminal "investigation and prosecution" of: Rumsfeld, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former CIA director George Tenet, along with other U.S. civilian and military officers for their alleged roles in "war crimes" committed at Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo Bay. The prosecutor's case includes 11 prisoners from Abu Ghraib along with Mohammad al-Qahtani, the "20th hijacker," held at Guantanamo Bay. The prosecution claims that Rumsfeld approved sleep deprivation and "other controversial interrogation techniques" in order to make them talk. So sleep deprivation is a controversial interrogation technique? Since when are the terrorist, the enemies of this country, guaranteed a "good night rest?" Once again leave it to the Europeans to demonstrate absurdity by being absurd.

Germany was apparently chosen for the "trial" because German law provides "universal jurisdiction", allowing for the prosecution of "war crimes" and related offenses that have taken place anywhere in the world. This trial has been on hold for the last few years because of Rumsfeld's position as Secretary of Defense. The prosecution now argues that Rumsfeld's resignation means that he will lose the legal immunity usually granted to high government officials, so the trial may go on.

Let me tell you folks, this is just another attempt by Europeans and critics of the U.S. to unjustly arrest and "prosecute" America's leaders, citizens, government officials, and allies.
