The ugly truth about beauty by Dave Barry, what does the title of the essay tell the reader? Does it tell the reader that behind every beauty there is a truth called "ugly?" Our images of personal attractiveness are influenced by T.V. commercials and magazine advertisements. Are there any physical traits in men or women identify them as attractive?
The ugly truth about beauty is comparison-contrast type of writing. First, this essay talks about men and women. It tells us the opinion men and women have about their own beauty and how attractive they are. It compares both men and women but in the other hand thy contrast them by their beauty. Second, men stick to their opinion for the rest of their life but women no matter how attractive they look; they think they lack something in them. Third, if a girl grew up playing with Barbie dolls and dreams that they want to be exactly like the toy, why cannot men think the same while they were growing up playing with action figures?
The thesis statement as mentioned earlier is that our self images are all influenced by T.V. commercials and magazines. Will women do that? No way. Second, women always try to be some one that they are not. Cindy had some middle aged women apply beauty products to their faces in certain way. All women dutifully did this, but will this really help them become Cindy Crawford. Guess not. In the other hand middle-aged men won't be seen sitting in a room and applying make-up on under the instructions of Brad Pitt,
