Book Report- The Wild Kid

The book I read is The Wild Kid by Harry Mazer. The publisher of this book is Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division. The publisher's location is 1230 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10020. The Copyright Year of this book is 1998. This Fiction book is classified as a mentally handicapped, runaway, and a feral children book. This book consists of 103 pages.

The main character of this book is Sammy. Sammy is a mildly retarded kid that gets into a quarrel with his mom, and runs away from home. Carl, Sammy's mom's friend, is not very accepted by Sammy. Bethan, Sammy's sister is fun and smart. Kevin is known as the "wild kid". Kevin lives in the forest by himself, and finds Sammy there. Kevin is a "bad" kid. He has very good survival skills and shows Sammy the "ropes".

This story takes place mainly in the woods. It also takes place in a normal town and mall. It is spring in the place. Some days are rainy and others are dry. It all starts when Sammy gets into an argument with his mom. The argument gets out of hand, and Sammy runs away. One thing leads to another, and Sammy's mistakes put him deep into a forest. There, he finds Kevin. Kevin has been living in the forest alone for quite a while and is satisfied. At first, Sammy is held hostage by Kevin. Gradually, the boys slowly gain each other's trust and learn to depend on each other. However, Sammy still misses home. One night, Sammy runs off to go back home. He gets lost, and then stuck from a branch on a cliff for about an hour and a half. Kevin finds him, and understands that Sammy wants to go back home. Kevin anonymously calls the police and tells them the situation. The police find him, and take him back home. He feels great living with his family again, but misses Kevin.

This is a great and exiting book
