Tourism build tolerance
More and more people find travelling very interesting. In my opinion it can be argued that tourists have spread the idea of tolerance.
Historically, many people did not partake in travelling, but due to the easy of flying and drop in price of travelling it has increased, at a rapid rate, in recent years.
Therefore, culture has spread across the globe. New ideas have been limited access to the outside world. I think that due to this introduction of culture, tolerance has shifted.
Tourists now will interact with local cultures in order to introduce their ideas. Examples of this would be Tapas bars in places such as Warsaw or London. Locals have accepted these ‘ideals’ and now ‘experience’ these new cultures. Pizza is an Italian phenomenon, however it is consumed around the globe without question. People tolerate the idea of Pizza and it has been widely accepted into most cultures. It seems to me that the world have been becoming multicultural, what is rewarding and ‘delicious’ (if we say about food ;).
Moreover, new ideas will be tolerated and tourism fuels this. Locals are exposed to new ideas and often these ideas are interpreted.
Opponents argue that this multicultural world can be dangerous for main culture of every country. If we have many of them, we can forget about this original one. Furthermore not showing respect can be harmful for some county. Locals can be unkind for tourists for saying wrong information about their country.
Taking everything into account I think it is important to remember the phrase ‘Not all, who wander are lost’. Tourists, who spread ideas, are ones who spread tolerance and reach the world.
