This article was very entertaining. It describes the human being as a whole and how diverse we are. Even going as far to say how one body is diverse with the different cells that make it up. Diversity is something that needs to be accepted and dealt with in the right way. This article went on to break down just how in life we accept situations. It showed a three-step acceptance tool. Step one, recognition, step two, tolerance and step three, celebration. It goes onto explain how each step should be reached and also explains how every level does not always get utilized correctly. Not every step is accepted. This tool can be used everyday in life, but this article went on to break it down in the perspective of diversity as a whole. Teaching students about diversity can help to achieve the three-step ladder.
I felt this article really showed just how everyday life really is. You never sit down and realize how even you, as a single person, are so diverse. Inside of us we are made of a melting pot of cells. We do not even realize this. If we were made up of all one-cell type we would be like robots. So boring and unaccomplished. Just like our bodies we need to accept that we need to be encompassed with a diverse surrounding. What fun would it be to waking up with a whole planet of the same person? Not fun at all. This article really depicted how we need to look at diversity as a whole. I loved how it broke it down in a ladder effect. This depicts just how every level does need to be met in order to provide the effect of cultural equality. You cannot make it to the top of the ladder without treating people the right way on every level.
