In the case of Trujillo, anger was what really ended his reign. He went through many challenges and opposition to secure his powerful position, but in the end what ended him was his arrogance. He could’ve not killed those sisters and completely avoided the international conflict that it ended up causing but instead, he got angry. In my opinion, his reign could’ve last much longer and possibly for more generations to come, the only problem is that he was a military man, not a diplomat.
All leaders need to make controversial decisions throughout their power, in the case of Trujillo he wasn’t the best. He was a totalitarian ruling in a world desperate for freedom. This was very impairing throughout his reign as many people wanted to oppose him and change or destroy what he had done. This made him mad, and when people get made they make very poor decisions, mind the fact that this man wasn’t good at decision making in the first place. In my opinion, he was trying to do the wrong thing at the wrong point in history.
All of his decisions added up, and very quickly at that. He lost his control and power due to the simple fact that in his mind, he wasn’t ruling a people he was ruling a land. As a leader or person in power responsible for a large number of people sometimes they forget that the decisions they make affect more than just themselves for a longer period than their lifetime. Typically that’s how everyone lives their life, and bases their decisions on. The situation that Trujillo was in, impaired him from choosing goodwill over greed. The people that he was ruling, did not support him at all. This caused them to revolt, in the case of revolution, the side that is being threatened will always become angry. To show lack of weakness, Trujillo kept these feeling bottled up. This added up inside him and continued to gradually and consistently impair his decision making as time passed, up
