The Ultra Sound Choice
What is ARDMS? To those people not in the Ultrasound field probably don't know. The American Registry for diagnostic Medical Sonography is a well accredited and respected program in Ultrasound. Mission statement is as follows; "ARDMS promotes quality care and patient safety through the certification and continuing competency of ultrasound professionals. ARDMS was incorporated in June 1975 is an independent non profit organization. It offers the following credentials; RDMS- registered diagnostic medical sonographer, RDCS- registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer, RVT-registered vascular technologist, RPVI- registered physician in vascular interpretation. ARDMS is located 51 Monroe St., Plaza East One, Rockville Maryland 20850-2400, telephone 1 (301) 738-8401.
The American Registry for diagnostic Medical Sonography specialties of RDMS includes abdomen, breast, neurosonology, obstetrics and gynecology and fetal echocardiography. Areas of specialty for RDCS's are adult, pediatric, and fetal echocardiography. RVT's specialties are non-invasive vascular technology. This program has earned prestigious ANSI-ISO 17024 accreditation for certifying bodies from the international Organization for Standardization (ISO). The accreditation is granted through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ARDMS has more than 50,000 individuals and is the recognized international standard in sonography.
Currently ARDMS has a great website, www.ardms.org; it allows a students or former students to keep up to date with their education; new students by allowing check news and changes, former students by keeping up with continuing education.
