It is often said that ever present stress and fatigue of our regular life can be relieved by going on vacation. More positive emotions, more rest and sleep enhance health, productivity and overall well-being.

For many people vacation involves travelling across countries, seas and oceans. But do we really need to go far for a truly enriching experience? Some people question it and opt to take vacation in their own homes. Staycation benefits include saving time, energy and money on travel and accommodation. Furthermore, staying at home gives freedom to explore local sites, spend more quality time with family and do things we would not otherwise do. In essence, staycation allows to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Nothing is perfect and staycation has disadvantages. A successful and rewarding stacation has to be thoroughly planned. It has to deviate from daily routines. Otherwise it is easy to fall back to the usual way of living.

Ever since the birth of my daughter I have been learning to value simple things in life. In the hectic course of my life simple pleasures became rare and all the more priceless. I frequently recall the brilliant poem by William Henry Davies “What is this life, if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare”. I dream of being free to take a lone walk in the park, visit long time friends, go to movies, exploring new yoga styles and simply pausing to ponder or meditate. Without having to worry about anything else. This is the reason I value stacation.
