Mr. Behrman values friendship. He is a sixty-year-old man who lives in the apartment underneath Johnsy and Sue, who he cares very deeply about. Mr. Behrman never finishes painting what he starts, so he never is able to paint a masterpiece. Before the last leaf fell on the vine, Mr. Behrman painted one of his first and final masterpieces for Johnsy. Mr. Behrman stayed out all night in the pouring rain to paint the last Autumn leaf to save Johnsy from dying of pneumonia. She was counting the leaves on the vine as they fell and when the last one fell, she would die. Mr. Behrman got pneumonia after staying in the cold rain all night. " Ah, darling it's Behrman's masterpiece,he painted it before the last leaf fell" stated Sue. "Mr. Behrman died of pneumonia today. He was only at the hospital two days and the janitor found him helpless with pain. His shoes and clothes were icy and cold. They could not imagine where he'd been on a night like this. They found a lantern and a ladder that had been dragged from its place and some scattered brushes" This shows how much Mr. Behrman cared about his friendship to Johnsy.

Like Mr. Behrman, I also value friendship. To show this, I have helped many of my friends with their problems. One example is from when I was in middle school. I was really good friends with Haley and one nigh we went to one a middle school dance. There was one particular girl from school, Brittany, who had been harassing her with harsh comments. When there was a dance competition, they started getting in to a verbal fight. I stuck up for Haley and Brittany left Haley alone.

Brutus does not value friendship. For example, Brutus plans to kill Caesar along with the other conspirotors.
