Values

The significance of values in our life helps us interact with each other. Sometimes we see the exterior of people and neglect the main characteristics of personality such as honesty, loyalty, and respect. Parents spend months, years, even decades planning the essential values to teach their children. These are the top three values I feel children of today should be taught.

Honesty is a key essential in the world today. At a job you can not compose false statements to make yourself look better. Your boss, or co-worker would rather someone be honest in a situation no matter what the outcome would be. In school honesty is important, whether you are writing a paper, or communicating with classmates. When writing a paper for school, the professors are ruthless if you do not document your sources correctly. This is called plagiarism. Generally suspension, failing the course, or even expulsion could be the outcome.

Loyalty is also an important value desired today. In a relationship, knowing your partner, family member, friend, or co-worker is loyal is desired. Whether it is the company they work for, or even a school they attend, this is a quality everyone should have. If you are paying for your child's school, you want to know they are attending daily or every class period. If this concerns a family member either wife, husband, daughter or son, you want them to be loyal and know you can depend on them if considered necessary. If this concerns a job, you want your employees or co-workers to be there on time. Even one individual late to work, can make the labor tedious and time consuming for each person.

Respect is the final important value I feel children today should be taught. Respecting someone is imperative in a family, friendship or relationship. You would not want someone to borrow a shirt, and when returned it is ruined. That is not respecting someone else's possessions.
