VIKING: Battle for Asgard

Viking is a brutal hack and slasher game but with the occasional strategic sections to do.

The game has some very good graphics and some graphics that could be improved for example the graphics on the close up of skarin and the in game videos are excellent whereas graphics on the scenery such as trees and hills could be improved. The game is a story about Skarin who is a blood thirsty Viking who is seeking revenge on his fathers death. Skarin and Freya are in a struggle against the underworld leader Hel and her army of undead Vikings.

Although the gameplay is awfully repetitive the game is still througherly enjoyable. The game consists of three huge free roam islands in which you have to free Vikings and eventually launch and attack on the islands main barracks. The fight on the main barracks are immensely enjoyable.

However the game Viking may sound like a blood thirsty hack and slasher type of game but the game has a deep and rich mythical and magical element to it as you use the power of dragons and summon magic from the gods.

The gameplay is however very old fashioned as most of they attacks are used with one button which to my amazement I really liked. When using these one button attacks you are rewarded with a slow motion hacking of an undead soldier, which the graphics are extremely good.

Stealth and exploration give the game a lot of depth in which you can stealth-like kill a legion or simple slice him in two. However using the special kills is great they also get repetitive, as there is about 15 different ways to kill someone. And on each island I killed about 150 undead Vikings so seeing each special attack a lot of times. This aspect of the game reminded me of the disappointing assassin’s
