I believe the increase in violence in our society is linked to the messages the media sends out locally as well as around the world. The media influences people of all ages about violence through movies, newspapers, television shows, internet connections and a multitude of other ways. Violence is an intense force or feeling toward someone or something that is brought out through hatred or a belief. There are people who promote violence and are not looking to stop it but there are also those people who try and contain violence any way they can. Violence is a hard thing to stop, but if the media presented a better side of things it would not be that difficult.
The media is the largest source for information that is spread all over the world, many children and adults are influenced by things the media tries to portray. Children learn their attitudes about violence at a very young age. Researchers are finding that violence in media impacts children and teenagers in many of the same harmful ways. Children and teenagers learn to behave aggressively towards each other and use violence to take care of a conflict or problem rather then self-control. Children are also influenced by violent videogames that exemplify killing and shooting. This will instill violent thought patterns that will make children more familiar with violent tendencies. The media is influencing adult viewers to agree with "fighting for our country", when really it is a horrible experience. The young adults fighting in the war are putting their lives on the line all because the people back at home are influenced to agree with war.

The media announces and publicizes gangs and horrible stories through television and movies, which gives people the incentive to act out exactly what they see in a movie or TV show. Many people today settle something with violence rather then talking it out,
