WAR!!!

Medal of Honor Rising Sun

Medal of Honor Rising Sun is a fast paced first person shooter that gives the

player an in depth feeling of what it was like to be in WWII, and shows them the

hardships and pain endured for a great country to go to war after the unforgettable

bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Andrea A. Lunsford, John J. Ruszkiewicz, and Keith Walters authors of

Everything's an Argument informatively define a convincing argument as "trying not to

conquer opponents but to satisfy readers that you've thoroughly examined those causes

and that they merit serious attention"(9). I feel that Medal of Honor try's to persuade the

player that the world is not perfect and America does have enemies and on December 7,

1941which was just a normal morning those enemies chose to make an attack against our

great nation. Which forced a sleeping giant to go to war.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters intriguingly describe a proposal argument as

"proposals for action when writers have succeeded in presenting problems in such a

compelling way that readers ask: What can we do?...What actions should be taken?"(20).

In Medal of Honor I feel that their proposal argument is that a nation with divided

Americans was enraged with this attack against them that it brought them together to

unite as one and go to war with Japan to repay them for the pain that they had caused the

American people.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters decisively describe an exploring argument as

a situation where "a problem exists Ð'... and that the writer or reader needs to solve it"(10).

In this case it would be the player of Medal of Honor who needs to solve the situation of

going to war (which would be the problem) with Japan and trying their best to overcome

the Japanese and win the life changing event of WWII.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters affirmatively define a decision-making

argument as an "argument that explores is that which aims at making good, sound

decisions"(10). In Medal of Honor they show you the actual footage of one of the biggest

decisions of our history, where President Roosevelt had to make the decision and

announce that America was going to war with the Japanese.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters discretely define an invitational argument as

a writing that "moves readers to recognize problems and to consider solutions"(6).

In Medal of Honor I feel that the creators of the game invite the player to see an in depth

view what the events of WWII were like through their own eyes and see the hardships the

American soldiers endured to protect our freedom and avenge our fallen heroes from the

tragic event of Pearl Harbor.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters informatively define a Rogerian argument as

an approach "to understand the perspectives of those whom they disagree, looking for

Ð''both/and' or Ð''win/win' solutionsÐ'... whenever possible"(7).

I feel that in Medal of Honor the way that they display how both parties lose to gain is

how they show that America and the Japanese had to lose a great amount of soldiers and

money to show how after all in all they could become allies after the war, and have great

respect for one another.

Lunsford, Ruskiewicz, and Walters easily describe an informative argument as to

"inform and to be informed"(7).

In Medal of
