On 3/13/06, 2300 hours Detectives Frank and Bean were called to the Lucky Clover Warehouse where a 20 year old female was found dead from apparent ligature strangulation of the neck. Upon our arrival we collected the following evidence from the crime scene. The crime scene was photographed overall and each piece of listed evidence was photographed before it was collected. The scene was also diagramed to include the collected evidence.

Evidence E-1 is a washcloth found balled up in the corner of the warehouse's bathroom. The washcloth contained what appears to be brown human hair. The washcloth containing the hair was placed into a large sterile plastic vial. The vial was sealed and marked with case information and a bio hazard sticker.

Evidence E-2 is the female victim. The victim has possible wet semen stains on her abdominal area. The stains were collected with sterile swabs. The swabs will be air dried before packaging. The packaging will be sealed and marked with case information and a bio-hazard sticker. The epithelial skin cells were scraped with a new sterile scalpel from under each fingernail of the victim. Each scraping was packaged separately. The scrapings were marked with case information and identified as to which nail. The packages were sealed and marked with bio-stickers. The victim also has ligature strangulation marks around her neck. Upon checking of her neck wounds we found white fibers. These fibers were collected and placed into an envelope. The envelope was sealed and marked with case information.

Evidence E-3 is a possible urine stain on the carpet near the victim. The entire spot was cut out of the carpet and aloud to air-dry before packaging. A control sample was also cut out of the carpet near but not containing the stain. Both were packaged separately and marked with case information and a bio-hazard sticker.

Evidence E-4 is a glass found on a countertop. The glass has possible dried blood stains on it. The entire glass was wrapped in paper then packaged. The package was marked with case information and a bio-hazard sticker.

Evidence E-5 is a cigarette butt that was found in the corner of the countertop room. The cigarette was packaged in an envelope. The package was marked with case information and a bio-hazard sticker.

All evidence was logged in on the crime scene log so a chain of custody could be established. The photographs from the crime scene will also be logged in as soon as they are developed.

Identification of the victim is pending on the crime lab results. A search of the missing persons database is also being conducted.

Scientific analysis of the evidence collected will be as follows:

Item E-1 Washcloth. The washcloth will be vacuumed for trace evidence. The hair contained in the washcloth will be sent to the crime lab for DNA analysis. We wish to learn the owner's characteristics such as race, sex, blood type and DNA profile. The DNA profile will be compared to the victim and also entered into the CODIS database in an attempt to isolate a suspect.

Item E-2 Body of female victim. A sample of DNA will be taken from the victim to be analyzed. We hope to learn the victim's identity, blood type, and DNA profile. A complete blood screen will also be requested to identify any foreign substances that might be present in the victim's blood. The victim's DNA profile will be entered into the CODIS database for possible identification. The presumptive acid phosphate test will be conducted on the possible semen stain. If this test is positive a confirmatory test will be conducted. The ABA card will be used to confirm the presence of semen. If this test is positive
