Gapminder is a site with tons of potential information for Marketers following international trends. This would enable any marketer to also make educated guesses for the future. It is a flash app that maps demographic and economic data by countries, and then play it from 1800 to today. This is a must have bookmarked site for any marketing manager and the management as it provides a good insight about the past trends, current trends and might help the company in market development and diversification.

Suppose, we as a pharmaceutical company want to release a drug that can combat the under-five mortality rate, the variables that emerge from this data can be.

To further improve on this model, data for macroeconomic factors such as GDP, number of total deaths reported per year and the total life expectancy of the people as a whole, price of similar life-saving drugs will be pretty useful for predicting the potential future sales and the target market.
