There are several differences between driving conditions in the Winter and in the Summer. One of the most important factors that affects driving conditions is car maintenance. Another determining factor is road conditions. Surprisingly, fuel economy of a vehicle also varies depending on the season.
There are several variations and additions that must be made to your normal maintenance routine during the Winter and the Summer. For example, in the Winter, not only do you have to perform standard service on your car you also have to winterize your car. Winterizing your vehicle is extremely important ,all vehicle lights, tires, and fluids such as antifreeze and wiper fluid, must be checked and repaired to achieve peak performance during winter storms and weather. In the Summer, in addition to standard service you must also make sure that you are using the proper weight motor oil and that your cooling system is working properly. This helps to reduce the chances of your car overheating and it ultimately results in a smoother running car during the hot summer months.
Road conditions also change with the season. During the summer tires wear faster due to the heating of the dark asphalt roads. Also during the summer there is an increase in traffic due to summer travel and care must be taken to be alert and aware on the roads. In the winter there is not as much travel and congestion on the roads, but ice and snow can drastically affect driving conditions. Wet slippery roads, fog and black ice patches on roads can easily cause accidents.
