Research isn't always a quick process. Depending on if you're writing a short paper, or a speech, or a long paper, or preparing for a presentation, you'll need to leave plenty of time to search for the materials you need, find the materials in the library or online, read the materials and then write your paper or presentation.

Here are some suggestions that might help you organize your time and prepare you to meet deadlines.

Short Papers (5-10 pages)

In most cases you should be able to finish a short paper in a week or two.

Here are the tasks you'll need to complete, and general guidelines for how long they may take, depending on your topic and assignment requirements.

Ð'* Develop a search strategy and make sure it will give you the desired results. Look at the results and evaluate them. Select the books and the articles that you need to use (photocopy, print, check out): 2-3 days

Ð'* Start writing the paper: 3-4 days

Ð'* Finish writing the paper, check for spelling mistakes, typos. Write the bibliography (link to Module when complete) and format the paper according to your professor's instructions: 1-2 days
