Stories such as these circulate through many organizations, anchoring  the present in the past and legitimating current practices. They typically include narratives about the organization’s founders, rule breaking, rags-toriches successes, reductions in the workforce, relocation of employees, reactions to past mistakes, and organizational coping.

Wegman been a company which has been in the grocery business over 84 years has a strong story and which is a core element in creating its corporate culture. Therefore Wegman’s history can be used as a natural direct pathway in terms of changing its present culture and connect people (rationally and emotionally) to the brands and for the company. Employee s find them self (their position) with in the story.

Organization culture is invisible. It’s very important that each employee adapts to Wegman’s culture so that the company can maintain its positive corporate culture in the long run. Wegman is expanding its business. It has been noted that when a new store is opened employees form the existing stores are brought in to the new store to maintain its corporate culture. Wegman can use the story of the “First Outlet” and the hard work of the different leaders in history so that even the new employees get to know the Wegman’s culture quickly. This creates a better environment for the employees to sharing their knowledge and learning among the other employees. (New and Old)

.Wegman can also use stories to ensure that employees know how to excel in their position in their careers so that they are happy and loyal to the job that they are performing.  Examples of the past successful floor managers, cashiers would be ideal stories so that each employee will be engage in their jobs and be more responsible.

Stories can be used successfully in recruitment. Wegman always looks for job candidates whose personalities and attitudes match with its culture. In order to maintain a culture where employees are food lovers Wegman can test the new recruits with their stories and see if there is any alignment for the company.
